Investor AB was founded in 1916 to formalize and continue the Wallenberg family’s tradition of financing and building best-in-class companies. Today, Investor is the largest listed industrial holding company in Northern Europe. The company's shares have been listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange since 1917.

Our business concept is to generate attractive long-term returns by investing in companies with solid potential for value creation and applying our experience, knowledge and network to make them best-in-class.
Business operations
Investor’s business operations are conducted primarily through the following business areas:
Core Investments, representing the largest percentage of Investor’s total assets, are well-established, global companies that are listed. The investment cycle is long-term and our ownership is through a significant minority position. The business area comprises eight companies today: ABB, AstraZeneca, Atlas Copco, Electrolux, Ericsson, Husqvarna, Saab and SEB.
Operating Investments are medium-size to large companies that are mainly unlisted and have international operations. The investment cycle is longer than five years and our ownership is through a significant minority position. The business area consists of the following holdings: 3 Scandinavia, Gambro BCT, Gambro Renal Products, Grand Hôtel, Kunskapsskolan, Lindorff, Mölnlycke Health Care and Novare Human Capital.
Private Equity Investments are holdings in small and medium-sized young growth companies that are mainly unlisted and operating in the healthcare, IT and technology sectors. Venture capital investments are made through the subsidiary Investor Growth Capital and buyout investments are made indirectly through EQT’s funds, which are partly owned by Investor.
