Claes, a senior adviser at Investor Growth Capital Europe (Stockholm) since 2002, has a solid background in the pharmaceuticals industry.
Claes joined Astra in 1985 as Medical Director for cardiovascular diseases. In 1991, Astra appointed him Executive Vice President of Research and Development. Following the merger of Astra and Zeneca in 1999, Claes was appointed Executive Director, R&D, and a member of AstraZeneca’s board. He retired from AstraZeneca in June 2002 and has published more than 270 papers on internal medicine and cardiology. Claes also serves on the boards of several Swedish and foreign Biotechnology companies.
Claes holds a M.D. and a Ph.D. from the Medical Faculty at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.
