Investor Invests in New EQT Funds
Investor has committed EUR 500 m. to EQT’s newest fund, EQT V,
and USD 200 m. to EQT’s Greater China II Fund.
Investor has two legs to its private equity business: the wholly owned venture capital arm Investor Growth Capital, and its commitments to the independent EQT buyout funds.
Investor founded EQT Partners AB in 1994. EQT Partners acts as an advisor to EQT’s ten funds, which make investments in mid-size companies in Northern Europe. Over the years, Investor has been a sponsor of all of EQT’s funds, including the two latest, EQT V and EQT Greater China II.
Investor is the largest investor in the different EQT Funds and also owns two-thirds of the advisory company EQT Partners. As of September 30, 2006, the value of EQT’s investments in Investor’s portfolio was in excess of SEK 9 bn. During the first nine months of 2006, EQT’s business had an effect of over half a billion on Investor’s effect income.
EQT V
EQT V has a total of EUR 4.25 bn. in committed capital and will be a continuation of the successful strategy executed consistently through EQT’s prior equity funds – to make controlling equity and equity-rated investments in medium to large sized companies primarily based in, or connected to, Northern Europe. EQT V will focus on attractive, growing business sectors where it has a specific industrial angle, and where an investment can be used as a platform for developing leading local/niche champions for global/sector leaders over a three to five year period.
EQT Greater China II
EQT Greater China II Fund has a total of USD 545 m. in committed capital and is consequently one of the Greater China region’s largest mid-market funds focused specifically on control investments. The Greater China Fund will apply the same industrial approach as the earlier successful European EQT funds, but with a specific focus on the fast-growing sectors of branded consumer products and services, retail and distribution, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing.
